Done it! took the plunge

Bought a Powerlite Wilwood set from RD... who's betting its a straight forward 10 min swap??

if you are planning a 10 minute job you're best to put aside 3-4 hours! remember you hav to bleed as well, lol

unpacking = 10 mins

admiring spanking new parts = 10 mins

removing old brakes = 45 mins

re-admiring new parts = 10 mins

fitting first side = 30 mins

admiring new parts fitted = 10 mins

fitting second side = 20 mins (always quicker 2nd time

bleeding = 15 mins

admiring new parts (wheels off) = 10 mins

taking piccies of new parts (wheels off) = 10 mins

admiring new parts (wheels on) = 10 mins

taking piccies of new parts (wheels on) = 10 mins



so...about 3hrs all in although you'd save a lot of time if you stopped admiring the damned things and getting on with it

This is on sierra uprights I take it?

Would be interested to hear how you get on with it - been looking at that kit for a while...

Im reckoning on having to change the master cylinder on my bias bar set up - what are your plans?

lucky, you i just set aside that amount of money and was about to order some when I broke the sump, waterpump, and exhaust.

so no new brakes for me. AGAIN this year

Yep, Sierra uprights, I reckon the master cylinder will be OK, we'll see on that one.

I'll fetch it up when its on so you can have a butchers

Rear brakes are poxy little 8" drums that are going in favour of 10" off an XR4i or the 9" jobs off a Sierra, if I can find the back plates!

Re the financing.. lumped it all on the Barclaycard and I was that excited on the phone I forgot to ask what the total was

All the admiring of the new bits will be done the night before, after wor lass has gone to bed!

Only thing not looking forward to is cutting the swagged m10 ends off the Goodridges and fitting the new swivels.

dont forget tea breaks!!

we spent about 8 hours changing brembo discs and pads last week-the longest part was cleaning everything up...need a new toothbrush now

Don't forget to add a couple of days to machine the mounting bracket to ensure your disc sits central in the caliper.
