Hub assembly
In the process of tightening and re-checking prior to SVA, I had cause to take the wheels & hubs off
Putting it all back together, assembly comprised the following main bits-
Upright
Then hub
Then bearing
Then washer with tab
then nut
Then wheel on, wheel nuts etc
A couple of daft questions-
1. Is there anything missing?
2. How tight to tighten the big nut?

there is two bearings ,one on the inside of the hub and the other on the outside

Yes, got them, although didnt mention
more thinking about the 'outside'
nothing after the flat washer, before the nut?
and how tight for the nut? do i 'horse it up', or will that impact on the freedom of the wheel rotation?

nothing between the washer and the nut, i just did mine as tight as i possibly could with a 2 ft breaker bar!
i don't have my ford manual to hand for the actual torque

Are we talking front or rear uprights?
If it's rear sierra uprights, you can monkey them up as tight as you like (the actual tourque setting was off the scale of my wrench)
If it's front cortina uprights, the setting is much more sensitive and shouldn't be too tight - I think you also have to loosen it of by a
1/4 turn or something.
I'll see if I can dig out the procedure...

Yep, for Cortina fronts, it's 27 lb f ft (3.7 kg f m). You need to be spining the disk as you torque it up. You then need to slaken the nut by
90degs.
For sierra rears, it's simply 185-214 lb f ft
