wiring in resistor fireblade

hi all
ive been doing some rewiring today,i have needed to relocate the 390ohm resistor nearer the ecu but i cant remember which way it goes round (or if it really matters)

ive tried connecting it to a ign live and tried both ways round ( i still get a 12v reading, should be 7.9v?

thanks for your help in advance.

A normal resistor can be fitted either way round. It won't necessarily reduce a voltage until there is some current flowing

If you post a sketch of the circuit I'm sure there will be more advice
