HELP 2
Me again!
They say that a pitcure paints ....etc.etc..
So, I have centred the rack, got it clamped so there is as near as damn it zero bumpsteer, with the wheels dead ahead and the rack mid-position
through it's travel, the result is as shown below. I think (please tell me if I'm talking goolies) if I have extensions as shown in the
lower part of the diagram, and take 15mm off the track rod, I reckon I should be OK for plenty of toe-in/toe-out adjustment.
Extensions
I did think of cutting the female ends of my existing extensions down to suit but this will remove the hexagon ends, will this be problem?
Any comments welcomed.

It may remove the hexagon ends but couldn't you file a couple of flats on it for tightening up perposes?

Refferring to your topic yesterday i'd say well done! You're allready halfway. That's the way to do it: divide your challenge into
several smaller challenges and tackle them one by one.

firstly I see no mention of a lock nut (half nut) that should go on the rod to lock up the extension.
also you do not say how deep the hole is in the extension - surely this determines how much off you track rod you need to cut.
also you need to be aware that track rods ends - you do not say what uprights so I assume cortina? - can vary in length.
I bought about 3 sets as I had similar problem to you and chose the ones that were the shortest.
In other words, think very carefully before you take the cutting disc to the track rods.

OK, my bad
There is a lock nut, I just didn't draw it on the diagram because I got lazy . The female end of the extension is 25mm, the track rod ends are
both the same (bought them together from the same supplier).
Hope that makes sense.
