You may need to look at other things as well.
The weight at SVA isn't as accurate as some people think.
What is your car "doing" that you think it is oversprung at the front?

If the front is too hard it will have a tendency to understeer.
Drive the car in big circles very gently accelerating and see what happens. If it starts to understeer the front's too hard, if the back goes
the backs too hard if it 4 wheel drifts its not far out.
This of course assumes your geometry is right to start with.....
For comparison I am running 350lb front and 175lb rear on my gts with a pinto lump up front. Car 4 wheel drifts when pushed unless provoked.

hi steve,
it feels like the front is 2 hard, not handling bumps as soft as i thought it should, steering feels realy good, very go kart like, if u push down on
the rear, it seems the front is fighting against it, this is my first kit car, so im new 2 this, allthough this site has been a great help, i should
of fitted a set of proper coilovers, instead of diy coilovers(trying to keep cost down)

Probably something like these, weld them on over a normal shock to accept the spring.

Welding a shock can kill the seals as you might expect.

hi, i used robin hood coilover struts (they fit over shocker bodies), threaded piston shaft, rubber bushed eyes as trailing arms etc. jag xj6
shockers on fronts (80m/m travel), punto on rear (100m/m travel).

My set up is 350lb front 250 rear.
Running an 1800 pinto, so not far off your set up.
I found if anything 350lb almost too soft.
250lb rear defo too soft.
So I would check there is no other problem with your suspention.
the 300lb should not be hard.
BTW I'm using Dampertech gaz shox

Are you sure your dampers aren't running out of travel? Do you have bump stops?

CVH doesn't weigh the same as a pinto. With a crossflow i'm looking at running 220lbs front and 180lbs rear (de-dion axle). This seemed to
be very common figures for a westfield when i looked about 8 years ago.
NS dev runs his rears even softer on Stuart Taylor IRS. No idea what the fronts are.

hi, thanks for the input, will try some more testing when the weather improves, have bump stops fitted, will check front shocks for travel.

Ive got 250 front and 160 rear, I increased the rears to 180 but that was to hard. think they could go down to about 140 and still be ok but the
fronts would then need reducing a bit also.
