above ground pool heater
Weve got an above ground pool and were thinking of ways to heat it up a bit more.
Were thinking ahbout some kind of solar heating system. First idea was to use a series of household radiators painted matt black just plumbed in
between the pump and pool. BUt then thought about rust etc made us think about using some form of heat exchanger so the radiators were in a sealed
system.
Any thoughts on the above? Has anyone tried anything different with success or have any other ideas?

someone on here posted something made of beer cans the other day. think it just heated the air, but some sort of ali pipe in the water with hot air
inside?

I made a heat exchanger for my mate.
Ran it from an oil fired boiler and it would raise the pool temp by 11deg in 24 hours.
His works partner had an expensive bought one that would only do 4deg.

We used to have a system on ours which used about 15 black hosepipe diameter plastic hoses in parallel into a manifold either end the same diameter as
the normal pool pump pipe. Works well in the summer, no corrosion, no losses with a heat exchanger.

Try plumbing something in 1.5" waste pipe painted black, all the fittings are available and it's not expensive stuff. Make up a matrix and
put it in a box with a perspex front with all the innards sprayed matt black and it should work.
