Compatible brakes

I got the RS2000 rear brakes (9"?) with the part built kit. I now realise they will be too powerful, and don't wish (can't afford) to go twin master cylinder/bias bar.

Are there any other drum brakes from other than escort that will do as escort rear brakes are like rocking horse poo to find.

I considered reaming a groove on the brake shoe to lessen the contact area (bonded shoes not rivetted) any thoughts?

Fit a brake bias adjusting valve in to the front to rear brake line.

Reducing the contact area will have very little effect, I think perhaps you should wait until you have tested the brakes before altering the system. A Seven type care actually needs more brake bias towards the rear than an nose heavy Escort RS2000 saloon.

If the brakes are Girling you should be able to source smaller bore wheel cylinders or fit a very cheap Fiat Uno or Ritmo/Strada or Lada Riva pressure regulator.
