Upright Master Cylinder
Hello,
Does anybody know where I can get a master cylinder that sits vertical, as opposed to standard horizontally mounted ones with a 7/8th bore? (its for a
clutch.)
Its going into a gtm Cox, (with a vtec type r engine in it.) and height is very limited. Girling do one but its designed to go horizontally,
therefore you need a remote master cylinder, and there is only about 12mm clearance between the top of the master cyl and the bonnet. Subsequently we
can't get the reservoir high enough to be practical.
Thanks in advance
David

Old style Minis had vertical master cylinders.

Alternatively you could fit an OBP Mini Pedal box like this:

You can use a smaller bore cylinder if you adjust the leverage to give a longer stroke.
Apart from already mentioned part from the real the Mini also early Metro and Mg Midget/AH Sprite
---- However if you use a remote resevoir it will work just fine as long as the bottom of the resevoir is level with the inlet port of the master
cylinder ie the resevoir dosen't have to be above the outlet port.
If you want to use a remote resevoir the Rover 620 has suitable big bore size master cylinder.
