There are quite a few kits available on ebay to convert to discs. However in my opinion there isn't any need to change the rear brakes, the standard brakes have plenty of power on such light weight cars.

Plus you will have a wider choice of wheel options if you keep drums.

Discs increase the wheel offset and are rare in 13" sizes

you probably end up adding weight to the car doing that conversion. Drums are quite light you know.

Also when installing discs you also need a bias setup or a pressure reducer for the rear brakes, again adding weight

and to quote Colin Chapman "add lightness"

ok so i wont be changing the brakes.

guess it might be worth me changing the 16" wheels to add lightness but for a £100 with new tyres they will do for now

thanks for all the advice hopfully you will get me through the rest of my build

It really isn't a straight forward choice, for racing discs every time , but on light car for road use drums have an awful lot going for then.
