cortina hubs, is this right
ive got some cortina hubs and was windering if the disc fits this way

2nd one is correct.
The hub carrier will then sit inside the recess in the disc. Like so:

definitely the second one - you want the disc as far away from the wheel flange as possible (checked haynes as well as car)

think i might go for picture 1 still, it just might look better with what i had in mind, just done a mock up upright and will post picture in a while,

would the caliper not be to close to the wheel that way
i have mine as pic 2 and looks fine

If you put it on as in picture 1, you won't get the caliper to fit anyhow.
(Unless of course you make your own uprights as I've just noticed in the second set of piccies - Doh!)
