Brake reservoir pipe fitment
I want to use a donor car brake master cylinder, which in its original application it sat vertically, in a normal locost horizontal location.
Can I simply bin the now unsuitable reservoir in favour of some remote ones? If so, how to the pipes fit? can I get the correct push fit ends? or
strip the master cylinder and tap the bosses?
Any help appreciated!

You can buy the inserts used in classic vw’s that also use a remote reservoir. I used them for a cortina m/s on the falcon (parts 7&8 in the
linky)

So those are a barbed push fit into the master cylinder? and how do they seal onto the pipe?

yeah you just put the rubber seal in, then the plastic pipe fitting. The remote hose is just pushed on, it’s not under pressure so most folk
don't bother with clips. On my beach buggy I used a sierra reservoir on the vw M/S, so their all interchangeable. Here's a pic of a bug
one fitted.
Obviously you need to use hose that is suitable for brake fluid and I’d expect for an IVA they’d want some clips used on the hose ends.

Oh I see now, makes perfect sense! Just need a reservoir with two outputs.
Have you tried an easibleed on yours?

Never liked the easibleed tbh tried them and just never worked, I just use the vacuum advance hose and a half filled glass jar. Trick is to wrap PTFE
tape around the thread of the bleed screws first to stop air being sucked back when you lift your foot off the pedal.
Car builder solutions does dual remote reservoirs with IVA caps. Quite pricey though, I'd go to the scrappy first

Whats so special about IVA caps? Just need to stat what fluid is in there and the fact its for the brakes?

Na you need a float switch in the cap so a warning lamp on the dash (can be the handbrake warning lamp) comes on if the level gets too low. I think
now it also has to have a symbol on it too, so folk don’t do what my sister did and put screen wash in there…

Hmm, back to this again, I have the rubber bungs in the master cylinder as normal with a 14mm bore, I need some plastic fittings that fit that and
have a barb on the other end like the VW ones.
Also where do I get brake fluid resistant hose?
