Rear wheel cylinder sizes

I am using a transit master cylinder with a 23.81mm bore. Cortina calipers up front with standard MK2 drums (8".

Will I see any benefit from going from a 20.6mm wheel cylinder to a lower size such as 19 or 17.6?

I don't have a problem, Im just replacing the brakes and wondered if there will be too much braking on the back with a smaller bore cylinder

You'll have less braking on the rear if you reduce the size of the wheel cylinder. F = PxA
