Help with Mounting Speed Sensor
Help please......where / how have you all mounted your speed sensors? I have a Digidash 2 and the speed sensor comprises of two small magnets that
you need to attach to the prop (ideally) or front hub. You then have to mount the sensor 1mm from magnet faces. Given the prop can move around
where's best place to mount everything. Pics would be very welcome.
Thanks,
Matt

If you're using a live axle then it's best not to put it on the prop unless you've got a center bearing in which case you can try
putting it really near the bearing as there will be less movement IF it's IRS there's less of a problem obviously.

Run a wire to a wheel and mount it off the wheel either on the front upright stay or off a bracket on the live axle. the weight of the magnets is less
than the minimum weight wheel balancers use.

I posted a photo of mine in a similar thread a short while ago. Try searching, or have a look in my archive. Mine is just in front of the centre
bearing, and worked first time! When I redid my prop recently, the prop manufacturer bonded the magnets on for me, and then balanced the prop, which
was nice of them!
Edited to say....

I welded a bracket onto my axle and mounted the magnets on the diff flange. I then wrapped the cable around the flexible brake house back to the
chassis. It was fine for SVA, the magnets eventually fell off though annoyingly. After which I used an adapter into the gearbox.
You do need to get the magnets pretty close to the head of the sensor, and it needs to be solidly mounted, so diff flange, wheel nuts, brake disk
bolts, etc, are all good options. If your using cortina uprights, there is a nice spot on the upright to weld a bracket on which will point at the
bolts that hold the disk onto the hub.
On the R1 engine I intend to wire the speed sensor up to the one on the bike where possible, else I'll mount it pointing towards the prop
adaptor.

Attach/weld abracket to the diff. Take reading from front of diff.
What about using a gearbox speed sensor?
