who can weld it for me?

sure many of you have seen my thread on paint which then went on to the welding someone did on the axle
you're all right i'm sure, so will get it re-done to be sure

is there anyone in the area (sort of glasgow to ayr) who would like to weld it for me? i can drop it round one day if someone can weld it while i wait?

tube is about 8-10mm thick i think? bracket 6mm to give an idea of what sort of power you'd be looking for

i'm just about to go out for the night, possibly back tomorrow morning, maybe tomorrow nite, so will pick up on this then

i was glad someone pointed that out cos when i saw the pictures i thought the same but didnt want to slag off your work! You need a hefty welder to get get good penetration on those thicknesses.

i almost said something but noticed others had already. you will be looking at plus +200amps on that. any good mig on 1mm wire should do it quite easily.

Joel, don't worry, it wasn't my work lol.
barry and MkII, thank you for the offers, but the postage on a complete live axle may be a little too much

think i might have found someone round here who can do it. speaking to a mate tonight who knows someone. big capri fan, does all the work restoring them himself. will try and get a word with him. also found a mobile welding company in greenock. will have to ask what their machines can handle. or if they can do it on a 3 phase tig if i take it to them perhaps

found a welder locally
he said grind it out, and if the boss isn't in, he'll do it for a tenner if the boss is in, it'll have to go through him, but its only a 10 minute job, so £10-£20 perhaps. good times.

been out, and ground all the old weld out. looks a mess now also missed and ground into one of my brackets. i guess he'll be able to put a drop of weld in there to sort it out
