4x4 caliper options

I am currently using sierra 4x4 calipers on my MK indy. However I have blown one of the rear calipers, and it is now leaking fluid from the handbrake piston thing.

My question to the collective, is what options do I have now?

1 Replace one?
1.5 Replace both with 4x4 calipers?
2 Replace them with something esle?

I do not think that I want to re-engineer the back end, and I have no access to fabrication, so what is the collective opinion?

Cheers
Craig

britishtrident,

I cannot se how a repair kit could help. it is leaking from where the handbrake mechanism pivots in the caliper body and I cannot see any means to get access to the (presumably damaged area)

If you don't feel confident in stripping the handbrake mechanism to fit the small seals which are in the caliper service kit just trade the caliper in for an exchange unit.

I second the BigRed guy's, first rate, did my front calipers, (Ex 4 x 4), about two years ago now, sent them to them and if I recall they were back in a couple of days. HTH Ray

Thanks folks,

I have pulled the caliper and sliders etc of the car now. and will try and look at to how to dismantle it.

in the meantime, is it worth the money/hassle of trying to upgrade the rears?

Cheers

its worth mentioning that if you get bigg red do the work for you - they will also recon and coat the sliders in the same finish as the calipers for little extra (£30 extra from memory)

not really - they should be plenty big enough

you can get uprated pads if you need a bit more out of them (for trackdays etc.)
there are several brands to pick from - but Mintex 1114's get a good name

ps - this is one of the ones I got from them
