My MK Indy steering rack.

OK, so now I am getting a few bits sorted on my MK, I am now looking towards changing the steering rack for a quicker steer jobby. At the moment it has about 4 turns lock to lock, which I guess is the standard Rack.

What I would like is more like 2.5 - 2.9, but am more concerned about the process of changing. What I really would like is for a new rack which simply replaces the current one, mark the track rod positions and swap them over. Am I being too hopeful ? Does a rack exist that will allow this ?

Too hopeful.
The MK rack is shortened from the off the shelf size, so this would need doing.
As far as marking and putting back together with no adjustment needed, no chance!

As said "no chance" I personally run 2mm toe in, so any slight discrepancy in machining is going to throw it out
