proxes are decent tyres. R888's are better in the dry but worse in the wet.
I would suggest a little more control with the right foot

Proxies are ultimately cheap tyres with a good grip pattern and standard compound rubber. They just happen to look flash. Try some Eagle F1s.
Also if you put an Eagle F1 next to a Toyo T1R you'll actually notice an Eagle F1 has something like 8mm more road contact on its width!

Have you tried softening off the back end?

Are you using a live axle or independent rear?

engines at the wrong end! What can you expect with such a fundamental design flaw!!!
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

a taller diff might help. if you are using a 3.92 ratio, changing to a 3.62 might help. I can't remember how to work it out but it's to do
with the torque transmitted to the wheels.
Someone will be along with the theory of that, but you can prove it with a balsa model and elastic bands if I recall

ime using a 3.62 at te moment, was thinking about 3.38. I was just looking at axle ratio on rover sd1 2000 (where a version of my engine and lt77 was
fitted) and its 3.14??

What tyre pressures are you running? How old are the tyres?

I have Yoko Prada's on mine and run them at 14psi. (Going up to 16 soon)
Wheelspin is not a problem most of the time just hard fast acceleration.
Had a scary moment a while ago with a Sierra Cosworth alongside... red line in first, no problem, quick shift to second and it lit up like the
proverbial christmas tree and had me snaking up the road more than Sid after being prodded with a Sid prod!

What width rears are you running?
I will be changing to 225 or 235 rears shortly, just for the added straight line grip. The fronts will be staying at 185 or 195 though.
The T1-R shouldnt have any more grip than the crappy Nakangs I have fitted as IIRC the treadwear rating is about the same and the tread pattern not
all that dissimilar. The only benefit may be the softer side walls.
There are other options than the R888 though - Kumho do some pretty good tyres at a little less ££.

You must remember that most of the tyre grip is generated by weight being on top of it, and not the width of the tyre.
You might well find that moving up in tyre width will not help at all with straight line grip.
You will get to a point where there is too much torque for such a light car, and so your right foot is the best way of controlling it all.

My new boots
Toyo R1R - supposed to be near as good as 888 in the dry and much better in the wet.
All I know is I'm taking it easy at the mo and they still knock the socks off my old Yoko A539s
