metelastic bushes to fit in standard tube sizes?
Im looking to build some 4 link trailing arms for a road car and therefore need some bushes. For reasons of cost and comfort I'd prefer rubber
than polyeurathane in this instance.
Does anyone know of any commonly available (for future spares) cheap (I need ten of them) bushes which will fit into a standard tube size so i dont
have to bore all the housing tubes on the lathe?
I know corsa rear beam bushes are cheap, but theyre a bit on the big side.
What were the original locost brackets designed around?
Cheers!

I had herald bushes fitted all round on my car when it first went on the road; they were nothing short of useless on the back. Probably lasted a
couple of thousand miles before the twist of the back axle tore them to pieces.
They seem to be ok (well, better but not great) on the front wishbones with the different forces but I would recommend against using them on trailing
arms on a driven axle.
Not helping with your original question sorry, but a friendly warning based on a bad experience.

3.7cm - Length of Bush
2.1cm - Diameter of Bush
1.0cm - Diameter of Bolt Hole
That will be
1.5" x 13/16 x 7/16 then lol!
Hmm, interesting!
A friends suggested landrover defender trailing arm bushes which apparently have an outer steel case around the rubber and are probably a little
larger.....
I guess the herald bushes fit into 1" x 14SWG or something?
Cheers!

Here is a possible bush from thr RS Components website.RS Stock No. 301-1441
Stock number:
The overall length is about right
The OD is slightly larger than the usual 33.6 bore CHS tube.
The bore is too large at 18mm, but could be sleeved down with some suitable tube pressed or Loc-tited in place.
Rubber hardness ?
