What do you mean by short? if it is at the triangular end, it may have been pushed into the column, clamp the triangular section in a vice and pull it out of the column till it hits the stop.

hi
it is the triangular bit which is too short. (not long enough to reach uj and shaft which goes on rack.
i have pulled the triangular bit out a bit further but the only effect it has is to move steering wheel closer to rear of car since on end of triangle bit is white plastic bush?. this is then hitting the rubber and plastic bearing which keeps column in line.
hope you can undertsand what i mean.
thanks
steve

Ah! You have to lengthen the rack to column with a length of tube.
If it helps, the rack to triangular extension on my MK is 32"(81cm)
