lengths off push in sierra driveshafts?
bit of an odd request really, but i need the overall lengths of a pair of Sierra push in driveshafts, as measured off the car (relaxed as opposed to
fitted with tri-lobes under tension).
i need the overall tip to tip lengths of both left hand and right hand shafts complete, and also the lengths from the bit that pushes into the diff
and the bit that pushes into the bearing/hub (usually shiny and non-rusty!)
reason is my hillclimber (Sports Libre Scimitar SS1 Turbo) uses a scimitar-only version, made by Hardy-Spicer i believe for the factory using only
special length shafts, CVs etc were all std sierra making them shorter than std Sierra items. It might be that i can use std sierra length ones to
widen the track along with longer suspension components, but need to know how much wider itll make the car.
see pic
cheers

only just seen this - give me a few hours and i should have the measurements.
Its conditional on you posting the same measurements for your original items & the width of the existing shafts.
(cause i may have a swap deal for you with my shafts i'm measuring).

overall lengths are 715mm and 725mm respectively. Note these are fitted lengths, theres plenty of take up on the spings in the trilobes, same as a
sierra.

hope this makes sense .....
the total length of the long shaft is 84cm, the total length of the short shaft is 80cm.
The shiney area from the wheel side is 13cm for both shafts. The shiney area from the diff side is 9.5cm for both shafts.
I measured the drive shaft including cv joints 61cm for the long shaft (i've lost 5mm in the measurement somewhere). For the short shaft its
57cm.
My definition of 'shiney' area is (from the wheel side, thread for nut, spline for drive, mm larger od shaft and finally the larger od
what i assume is a bearing surface. 'Shiney' from the diff side is splined section, slightly larger od shaft and larger od assume bearing
surface.
I also measured the two stuart taylor drive shafts i've got. They are missing the inner cv joints so this is from the threaded outer wheel end
to the end of the splined drive shaft that fits into the CV joint at the diff end.
long = 48.5cm
short = 43.5cm
Cheers and i hope thats helpful.
