Predictions Please...
... two part question.
1. How long before I need a new sump?
2. How far from civilization will I be when I first realise that I need a new sump?

PS - The ruler in the pic was a little closer to the camera than the sump... it's just over 30mm!

Don't take it out fo the drive is my suggestion.
I had a bit over double that with my old Sylva and couldn't dream of negotiating speed bumps or anything like that.
Dry sump kit ?

Mine is not much better. Ali RS sump - have to be very careful on speed bumps either through the middle or one wheel over the centre.
Been on the road for 3 years now and ok so far. The only grounding has been on a grass driveway with old bricks under the surface to fill in the
ruts.. I can't find a way of not grounding there and I use it often but dead slow!
I did have a very near miss in the Peak District though, It was up near Axe Edge, the road was geting more and more uneven so I had slowed a bit when
I noticed just in time evidence of lots of previous grounding. I stood on the brakes and survived, but was lucky. The road had some severe dips in it
and it's obvious that at speed you would arrive with suspension fully compressed.

Wow. That's scary. I clench when I go over speed-bumps running 75mm! I'd get on the blower to Pace right away!

If you're starting with 30mm, put 2 peope & a tank of fuel in & if you have 25mm of suspension movement over bumps then you don't
have sufficient clearance for a pebble! Or indeed a piece of gravel, which tends to be sharp.
I would say that as it stands it's unuseable, even if you put a guard over it if you ran over a reasonable sized stone it could turn into a
sledge
Not taking the wee, but how did it get to a built stage without spotting what is a fairly basic prob??

I had the same problem. The easiest ways to get more clearance are:
Raising the suspension
Adding in a spacer between the engine mounts (easy 10mm maybe more in your case)
A fairly minimal gain but make sure the tires are fully inflated because that could give u a couple more millimeters (could be the difference between
making it over a speed bump or not)
If worst come to the worst and you get to a speed bump you know you want make it over just get out of it and push VERY SLOWLY. That will give you more
ride height once your out and you can check if you are going to hit it too...
Hope this helps because it saved my ass a couple of times...

Jono... you little beauty you!
Just went out to see how much pressure was in the tyres... front nearside (side I measured from) was as flat as the proverbial pancake! I thought the
sump looked a little lopsided when I was under there. DOH!
The front offside wasn't much better - like a slightly fatter pancake, but flat nonetheless!
Talk about relieved! I couldn't remember it being that low when I bought it!

Just an observation,dont the caterhams sit quite high?...and if they do, the
handling must be okay.
I know the handling on my clio williams would be compromised if i lowered it too much.
What are your thoughts guys?

Nope... 13's all the way Daniel!
I ended up getting a VX220 stack dash... but it's already surplus to requirements as the PWM signals are a complete pain in the ass!
What stage are you at with your build?

My road has 100mm speed "cushions" (these are as tall as the law allows), there would be no point in leaving the drive!
We did the LeMans trip in my mates Westfield, the only problems were the first and last 200yds along my street.

I have to disagree:
According to Murphy`s Law (S0d`s)
1.- A long time.
2.- As far as you can be on UK (in the middle of nowhere)

I have a pair of 70 section A-021R's for the front... they look massive next to the 6.0 section ACB0's.
I reckon I've just got myself an additional 50mm of clearance right there!
