It was badged Twin Cam, rather than Lotus IIRC.
I remember one of the local wide boys bought a Mexico, when I was a kid (about 12), tried to convince everyone it was a twin cam, would never pop the
bonnet though!!!!

Has the air filter been modified?
Wasn't the original that strange thing, looking like an exhaust can?

It was, yes, like a twin tail pipe back box diagonally across the cam covers.

Does look in brand new showroom condition. I remember wanting a new escort so bad when I was a student and driving a Spitfire 4.
