NITRON Shock Absorbers (IMPORTANT)
Gents,
I have this evening been speaking with Darren George at GTSCougar, because I want to sort out my shock absorbers.
Guess what. Non left. KEEP READING!!
For various reasons, primarily he has to order parts for two hundred at a time (read big outlay) and sells more to the far east etc than here. He's
debating whether to carry on with them.
He says he can do a set of four for £200 (incl VAT). INCREDIBLE! My money is waiting!!
Trouble is I need to get at least 10 - 15 (40 - 60 units) DEFINITE sets ordered ((ie show him the money (£20 deposit is ok) in order for them to be
made.
Others on this site have vouched for them.
So if any of you want to be able to have a reasonably priced alternative to Zeemeride, start posting.

At that price, they're going to be the ones with fixed spring seat, be very careful when specifying springs as you've no adjustment.

Is there a warranty on these and are they shocks converted too coil overs like zeemerides.
If the springs arnt adjustable forget the above.

Chaps,
I brought up the subject of Adjustable or Non Adjustable.
£200 for adjustable - he's not sold any fixed base versions.
As for warranties - no idea - will ring and check tomorrow.

Hi all,
Just a quick note to let you know that Nitron has run out of its stock of Locost shocks.
Nitrons product range has moved more upmarket and the Locost shock causes a lot of confusion amonst the customers about exactly what a Nitron shock
is, so as a result they have decided to stop making and selling the shock.
Now they have offered me the oppotunity to take on the shock. If i do it will be renamed GTS and it will be offered at a lower price. It will be
offered cheaper because i don't have the same over heads etc..
The big but is that i can't afford the huge layout to buy the parts to make the shock, unless i know i can sell at least some of them quite quickly
after making them. I have to buy 200 shocks as a minimum order.
I have had lots of enquiries about the shock and i'm sure a lot of people intend to buy them in the future. So can i have a show of hands please, if
i offer the shock complete with spring and adjustable ride height inc VAT for £200 per set, how many of you would want them? Several conditions go
along with the offer. 1. £20 deposit up front per set. 2. I can't gaurantee delivery for another 15 weeks as this is the lead time on all the
components.
I already have 1 definate sale, and 2 more serious enquiries. I need to have 10 more people send me deposits for me to go for it.

Anybody used/using nitron shocks? Any good?
Is it a case of get what you pay for or are these really a bargain?

I have them on my chassis, but that's all, it's just a chassis so I haven't tested them yet. They do look nice though 
As for a bargain, I'd say so, I bought mine 2 months ago from Darren for just short of £300 (grumble, grumble)

Have mine on chassis as well. No idea how thet work in the real world, but pleased with finish.

No idea about warranties / damping positions.
I'd have thought for the money, just the one damper setting (ie fixed), but could be wrong. For £200 would that be a bad thing?
I'd suggest people contact Darren directly per link on Roadkill's 8.13am posting to get proper answers to tech Q's.
I'm just letting y'all know what I was told during my conversation with DG on Fri Eve.

Bob, I looked into these a while ago, they're adjustable spring seats, but fixed dampimg, optimised for Locost, at the end of the day, how often do
you touch damping once set? Our Gaz units were set up then left.

I've gone for the Dampertech Gaz-matics as well,they are £25 a corner dearer but fully adjustable and a 3 year warranty.
Yep your right once set they are set,but i'm starting with pinto and changing later for 16V so i like the idea of full adjustment.
Obviously spring rates might change.

I left to go on my hols and was hoping nitron had some shocks left when I returned but this posting and thread had confirmed my fears. Im at the stage
where I want some shocks now so where do I get them from ? .Are the ones from lolocost ok?

Put the same question up on the list a few months ago.
The opinion was the price is good, but there made by converting normal road shocks.
Plus a few people have had bad experiences with Lolocost!

The zeemerides that lolo sell are like the nitrons,they start life as regular dampers and then get converted to coil overs.
I've never driven a car with either of the above so cant really comment on there performance.
Its an expensive area of the car and one you want to get right,after speaking with a few builders up and down the country this year i went for the
dampertechs at £300 all in.
I'm sure everyone has a different way/feel for set up on their car,i felt that as well as spring seat adjustment damper adjustment was good as
well.
Maybe i just wanted something else to play with!!
It would be interesting to see how the nitrons perform,although if they(nitron)have decided not to make units for the locost market they probably
didnt shift many in the 1st place.
