Avo, Gaz, Spax or ANOther??

Sundays Autosolo FDMC was not only great fun but put paid to the tyres (knew they were just about legal to start with) and it turns out one of the rear shocks!
I'll replace them as a pair as the current ones are a bit too short on travel.
So any comments/feedback appreciated on which of the above you think most suitable as replacements.
Car is a CEC with live axle and used for fast road, track-days and Autosolos.

another vote for protech, have had all of the other 3 fitted to various cars, very happy with protech

does nobody bother with a Nitron's or Ohlins on a 7 type or does the cost just put everyone off.

had previous experience with both and couldn't fail to be impressed, although the ohlins needed servicing more. I've got protech on the Indy, but i haven't driven it yet so couldn't comment

I had Nitrons on my Elise, and they were really good, miles ahead of the original Konis (well, no surprise there, they were new in 1998), but also miles ahead of a 2-year old set of Bilsteins (Lotus' current standard fitment). They're about £600 a set (maybe more for a customised setup for a 7) but I really can't fault them, they were excellent.

Hi

Live axle requires special valving to take account of the high unsprung weight. This is not available as STD from any of the basic suppliers GAZ AVO or PROTECH. It is a service i can offer as i valve the dampers specifically for the applications required.

Nitrton . There's no point really go straight to Quantum if spending that sort of money.

Do you need the car in for specific valving or is there info that you can be emailed?

Slight correction - AVO will adjust the valving if you ring and ask them when you order, although they don't advertise this service. This is what I did when I ordered new rear shocks - gave them the spec of my car (type of axle, weight of car, etc) and they set them to suit.

Not to take away from your service though, as I'm sure that their adjustment is a coarse "best guess" compared to yours.

Avo say lots of things. But they go quiet if you say your having them independently Dyno tested.
