Diff ratios

Hi all, hope everyone is well on this sunday afternoon?

I know this has probably been asked a million times before, but alot of posts have been about diff codes and the like, but mine's a bit more simple and I'm confused...

If you wanted raw acceleration in a car, what diff ratio would you use? And if you wanted a cruising ride what diff would you use? And what's a happy medium for acceleration performance and also top end?

It's for a 2.0l zetec avon, on granada running gear with MT75 box by the way.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

3.92 would give best acceleration as long as you can put the power down
3.1/3.3something would give best cruising but rubbish acceleration
3.62 would be the best comp for cruising and acc but then tyre size also comes into it.

so the higher the ratio the quicker you go but not as fast
