Question for the sierra diff experts
Morning all
Slight problem with the 3.62 diff with bolt on drive shafts and disks on the blade, it's started really whinning really badly, don't want
to pull the diff out of the R1, But I do have a complete diff with push in drive shafts and drum brakes.
Obviously I'll have to remove the large nut on the hubs to remove the shafts from the rear uprights and change the diff to push in shaft type.
this will leave me with a push in diff and rear uprights with disk brake bearing carriers.
Question: will push in shaft ends fit the disk brake carriers, so all I would then have to do is fit the disk hub/disk and refit the caliper.

the hubs are different, I think iiyama made them fit (to save a bit of weight on the standard ones) - but it'll probably be easier to sort the
diff
I think you might be able to fit the bolt-on flanges into the diff that currently has the push-in ones
but this only works if you've got the right sized push-in shafts

You can swap lobro and tripod UJ's but the shaft diameters have to be the same and that requires the rare thicker push in shafts.
We have used lobro bolt on splines shafts in a push fit diff but sometimes the shaft jams the planet gear shaft locking the diff, needs carefull
modification

I've got this going spare if it helps
its a 3.92 open diff, but the bolt-on stubs were nicked for someone else already...

If neither of your diffs is an LSD, and assuming they are both 7", then you can convert your push-in diff to bolt-on by taking the flanges out
of the knackered bolt-on and shoving them in the push-in. They're only held in with circlips. There's a very small chance your push-in is
the early/rare 6.5" that has smaller innards and this wont work.
