Brake bleeding aka bleeding brakes
Sierra calipers.
Last job of the (until then successful) day, bleed the brakes
Passenger side bleed nipple stuck solid, can't budge it at all even after lashings of WD, what's the best way of coaxing the little
varmint out of it's hole.
Drivers side cracked off OK but now won't nip up enough to seal properly, nips up tightish then goes loose again, took it out and the thread
looks a bit 'flat', best way I can describe it. I assume I just need to replace it or is the thread in the caliper likely to be damaged
too?

The thread in the cylinder is a little harder than the nipple, so you may be lucky.
On the seized one try a few sharp taps end on with a hammer, the shock often breaks the rusts hold, last ditch is to take it off the car and apply
heat.

I have never failed with the tapping the nipple with a hammer technique. sometimes you have to hit it quite a bit and sometimes you squash the end so
that it is difficult to bleed - but it always comes out and it's easy to put a new one in.
Apply liberal copperslip to the threads so that they come out next time and air won't be drawn down the threads whilst bleeding.

Tried that, still as solid as a rock, started to round off too, only thing I can think of now is to whip the caliper off and get the bleed nipple in a
vice and try twisting it off that way, got a horrible feeling it's going to shear off though

keep hitting it on top with the hammer till it frees off - you aren't hitting it hard enough. If you shear it you write off the caliper usually.
Don't put it in the vice.

Get some heat into the nipple in situ then cool with your wd & crack it. ought else the little b will most likely shear.

If it's rounding off try welding a nut to the nipple, the heat and being able to apply pressure normally shifts them. If the threads in the
caliper look dodgy it might be worth fitting a bleed nipple repair kit as shown by British Trident a week or so ago?
