Steering Rack
Hi All
I have built my chassis 4 inches wider than Book width. Has anyone else done this and what steering rack have you used?
I have a non power Sierra rack and wonder if I can use this. Its still in the donor car at present as I still have to move it around so I havent
offered it up.

Andy,
I too built my chassis 4" wider than RC plans.
As I wasn't sure what I was going to do on the rack front, I tried it roughly in position and found the rack/control arm balljoints were way to far
outside chassis (and most definately not in line with w/bone pivots).
I cut rack into two, removed 5" and rewelded. Believe it could do with another couple in inches removing. Not looked at steering for a month or so,
so will need to check numbers etc, which unfortunately won't be for a while coz me and missus just had our second son (week old yesterday).
Hope this of some use.

I take it that was a "congrats" on the birth of 2nd son, in which case, cheers very much.
Or have I misread - as in congrats on shortening rack by 5" when think it s/be 7".
