(v) amature builder looking for advice about front sus bracket mounting

have jigged up the front sus brackets and offered them up to the chassis; the brackets are bigger than book and have made LC 22mm further back than book so the positioning of LA/LB and FU1/FU2 will be slightly different

looking for comments

LA/LB will be around 5mm inward

top of FU's will be inside J1/J2; but will S and T pick this up ok?

You are going to weld the front upright chassis members using the brackets as locators?

Can't see any problem.

1st or second book, the first has errors !

If you are making your own bones then you taylor to suit, just make sure you build in 7 degrees castor when finished.

That is really the only way to do it properly. Since the position of the holes in the brackets is very important, it makes sense to locate these in the correct position (using a jig) and then position the FU chassis members accordingly.

Seeing as the bones are made already he will have to position the brackets (or use shims?) to get the caster right.

Cheers

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

cheers guys - yes am looking to locate the uprights using the brackets in the jig... so there's no issues if FU's are slightly inboard at the top?

first book... 7 degrees... i've built in around 5.5 in the jig... but have an element of adjustment using washers as spacers in the brackets?? hope that's ok

Perfect, locate the brackets correctly then add additional strength if required and you will be all right do not try and make the brackets fit the frame!
