Mini Pedals
Anybody ever use mini pedal assemblies. I like the idea of the m/c going up as it is narrower. Since a 7 is lighter than a Mini I am thinking it
might be a good idea.

Does the Mini actaully have a "pedal assembly" - with some cars, like the Sierra and Metro, the pedal assembly is a complete unit but I
seem to remeber the mini has individual pedals mounted underneath the cross member with the master cylinders mounted on top of it.
If it wasn't dark I would go outside and have a look!

My rather vague recollection from replacing a Mini master cylinder many years ago, is that the pedals are mounted in a pressed-steel frame. The
assembly has 4 bolts for the master cylinders - these go up through the bulkhead, and the master cylinders effectively clamp the whole assembly to the
bulkhead.

Bryan is correct, the Mini pedal assembly (brake & clutch) stays together as a unit.
"Single" Mini master cylinders (here in Canada at any rate) are more expensive than the AP or Wilwood style. Also, I don't know if
you need dual circuit brakes for SVA but the upright dual circuit Mini master is an awful contraption. The two halves of the internals are held
together with a (not too) cleverly designed bent tipped cotter pin which breaks or tears away the tin retainer and leaves you with a scary,
unpredictable mess. That and they cost the earth over here, nearly $400 Cdn for a re-con master.
I love my Minis despite their flaws though <g>. And, if you have the parts at hand...
Cheers, Ted

Useless bit of info I gave before - I got the torch out and had a peer inside the mini after I turned the pc off last night and saw that the two
pedals were on one mounting. So long since I took one apart I had forgotten that.
I think it would be quite a complex unit to fit however - the metro one should be much easier as it is a completely self contained unit.
