Tyre size

I'm going to be running 13 inch wheels, and only have 1.6 pinto, what tyre size would people recommend? I want to run decent tyres but also not have so much contact patch/grip that it becomes impossible to over come the grip at the rear end.

Also any recommendations of tyre and where to buy?

Have you already bought wheels? If so the width you've got will limit max/min tyre widths.
185 width is about right (IMO, though there are plenty of people who fit wider, sometimes much wider).
Personally I'd get the MSA tyre regs and choose from the 1a list for reasonable road tyres - like the one's Mark recommends, 1b for top performance trackday tyres.

185/60/13 for me, I have nothing below the chassis rail so clearance is less of an issue

I bought Yokohama 185/70x13 A021R Race Rally Tyre Soft Compound
This tyre is a ideal all weather rally/race tyre.
It provides excellent grip on wet slippery tracks as they are a soft compond.
These are also E marked and road legal - I used for IVA.
got em from:
Mtec Racing Services 01827 69886 Tamworth

PS: part of the suspension design on a seven is in the flexing of the tyre wall..
My spine has thanked me many times on my choice of a 70 tyre wall on unforseen pot holes & speed bumps!
