Wilwood h/brake calipers and lobros advice

Afternoon All

Trying to sort out what calipers I need for the rear of my kit.

I have standard sierra lobro driveshafts, IRS hubs and intend to run 13" wheels
I have now found I need to have the outer wishbones modded from polybush to rose joint to get 13" rims on

next problem is the kit RD sell for sierra disc set up (BK67) comes with a 273 x 10mm disc min 15" wheels
the drum set up (BK65) comes with 240 x 10mm disc min 13"

I believe the difference is the hub bearing is alot bigger on the lobros

how have other people got round this..

thanks in advance Gavin

I have done exactly this.

Basically I used the Sierra disc brake bearing carrier and cut the ears off, turned down the bearing carrier where it meets the upright to the correct thickness and used the drum brake RD kit.

It sounds a lot easier than it turned out to be!

There is a thread on here about it somewhere. I will try and find it.

so I think I have this right...

firstly cut off the ears

then turn down the bearing housing so the ally adapter slides over

and finally machine down the hub where the mounting bolts are, to same width as drum set up

hopefully this is right!!

That's pretty much what I did.

I did end up with the bearing carrier 2mm too thick. When I trial assembled it, it was spot on but when I had built it up fully torqued up it was 2mm out, so had to make a spacer between the drive flange and disc to align it. No big deal and it all fits perfectly now.

I did consider taking more material off the bearing carrier but decided caution was the better part of valour and didn't want to weaken it so went with the spacer.

I hope that makes sense?

well finally got round to doing this...

I had the bearing carrier flange reduced by 5.3mm where it bolts to the upright,
turned down so the rally design caliper mounting bracket slide over, and cut off the bunny ears

fitted new bearings....

and had a 5mm spacer made to go between the hub flange and the disc.

this way it aligns the disc with the centre of the caliper without having to remove too much material from the bearing carrier flange
