What are these front calipers?
Evening all,
I,m looking to refurb my front hubs and calipers.
The pads are fine EBC greens and provide great stopping power and braking is well balanced.
I,m thinking of a rub down and paint but was wondering what these calipers are from? I believe they are AP racing?

Look like Princess 4 pot if they are fitted to Cortina uprights.

50kg's of Austin Princess's finest - AP Lockheed but Racing......... Nah.
Weight them and the discs in with some Escort boys and replace with some Willwoods and a solid 10mm disc. and save yourself about 20kg's

Wow thats a lot of weight, Yes i have looked at the Hi Specs.
What are these worth with like new EBC pads?

I'd go for Mintex M1144 pads unless you do serious racing stuff. They are fine from cold and not too sensitive on bedding in. I have used them
for track days for years and they seem fine for sprinting too although some may disagree.

It terms of stopping power no, but it will give a useful reduction in unsprung weight (HiSpec calipers are about 1kg each IIRC). With the suspension
properly set up taking 3.5kg off both front corners should be noticeable on a track.

They do look like the same as mine, and i have Greenstuff pads in mine
you really need to have the 257mm disks as well, (i dont) as the pads will leave about 5mm of unused area on the outside of the pad, the bit nearest
the wheels
I am not sure how much more braking i would have if all the pad was in contact,
As for the braking with these callipers, i would estimate them to be about 50% better than the M16 originaly fitted, and transformed my braking
problems, when i built the car,

Ps, as Mike states, they are heavier than the M16 but not a great deal more, but the braking increase weighs against the weight

So all in all not a bad caliper by the sounds of it, going on the replies i will spend money on other
priority upgrades first, yes i can see the advantage of 1kg calipers over 4kg+ they will certainly
be on my future wish list. Interesting about the size of the discs and i notice you have a solid disc.
