First time pad swap

Bear with me, I've not done this before

I've just bought some M1144 pads for my M16 calipers. In the box was 4 sticky backed pieces of something that are about the same size as the pad. What are they? Where do they go? Is there any prep I need to do?

Regards,
Dave

Anti squeal pads, they stick on the back between the backing plate and the piston.
