Rear 9" drum setup.
I've got what I think to be 9" drums from a Capri? on the rear of the car. The handbrake works but it seems like there isn't enough
travel, it moved about 2 clicks once the slack has been taken up. Is this normal?
Secondly there is a bit missing from one of the levers on the backplates, it should be attached to the lever?
Is it needed and do the levers look like they are at a funny angle?

Looks just the same as the 9 inch RS Escort brakes.
You do need the missing bit. It's used to set the handbrake cable adjustment. According to Haynes, procedure is to back off the cable adjustment
until both plastic stops are hard against the back plate such that both levers are fully seated.
Then adjust the handbrake cable to remove all slack - measured as a TOTAL clearance of 4 to 5 mm between the stops and the back plates - it
doesn't matter if it's not the same both sides because it will equalise once the brakes are applied.
If the cable is over-tight the self-adjusting mechanism doesn't work.
Once you've set the adjustment, fully apply the handbrake to settle the mechanism, then check the measurements again and reset if necessary.
It is normal for the lever to travel up to 10 clicks before the brakes are fully applied.

Something else to make then! I need to modify the cable bracket anyway as it fouls the bit thats missing anyway. The remaining one didnt even have a
screw on. Where is a good place to get all of the drum assembly parts? and does anyone have a decent exploded view?
they may well be escort RS items, were they the same part number wise and do the drums just pull off normally? they seem tight like there is a massive
lip

I think they're the same part. The drums are located by the centre on the flange of the axle shaft and they tend to stick on the shoes as you
try to pull them off. Gentle hammering and pulling and levering usually works. Heat might help too. They are prone to seizing on the axle and can be
very hard to shift. I clean mine to make sure they're free and reassemble with a bit of copper grease
