MGZR Hub Compatibility

I have a 52 plate MGZR 160 (1800vvc) donor vehicle for my middy, unfortunately the drivers side upright is damaged and I require a replacement. There are plenty of ebay of course, but not many specifically for the 160. I would be amazed if the complete upright from a regular 1800 (non vvc) would not fit straight on but can anyone confirm this before I part with my hard earned?

I’ve also heard that the whole zr range used a different gearbox from 03 onwards so its likely I’d need a pre 03 one so the hub splines are correct for the shaft.

Anyone know?

Can't comment on the upright, but nikced from the MGZR owners club :-

MG ZR 1.4 105

'R65 Gearbox' - Found in all 1.4 105 MG ZR's up until mid 2003 (meaning the R65 is only found in MK1 Zr's) and up to the VIN number '3D 720773'. Considered the weakest gearbox and generally the type that breaks most often.

'IB5 Gearbox' - Found in all 1.4 104 MG ZR's from mid 2003 onwards (and ALL MK2 105's) , any VIN number past '3D 720773' will have an IB5 gearbox. Derived from a Ford zetec gearbox, considered to be a very strong gearbox and much better than the R65.

MG ZR 1.8 120 and MG ZR 1.8 160

'PG1 Gearbox' - All MG ZR 120's and 160's regardless of year/model use the PG1 Gearbox. Considered a strong gearbox on a standard car.

MG ZR 2.0 Diesel 100 and 115

'PG1 Gearbox' - All MG ZR diesels regardless of year/model use the PG1 Gearbox. Considered a strong gearbox on a standard car.

Check rimmer brothers for the part numbers ?

Their exploded diagrams are really easy to use

MG ZR (Rover 25) ? the ZR has strut suspension.

All the outer CV joints and wheel bearings are the same regardless of engine size or gearbox.

The actual hub (lower part of strut) had variations most importantly prior to year 2000 ones for vented discs were different from solid discs.
However after year 2000 only one part number for each side is listed.

If the parts list is correct, you used to be able to get hold of the MG-Rover parts CD on eBay,
