Rear Brake Calliper
Got Sierra rear callipers on the back of my car, the 2wd solid disc ones with Escort MK4 handbrake cables. The problem I'm having is if I pull
on the handbrake when it's released the OS calliper is staying on and binding the disc, if I give the handbrake cable just before the calliper a
shake it frees off with a click also if I flick the lever on the calliper it frees off again with a click.
It does not take much to free it at all, barely touching it does the trick and it pops free no problem.
I thought I'd ask if anyone has any ideas before I start stripping it down as it's a bit of a pain of a job. I'm not sure if
it's the cable or the calliper that's the cause. So far I've only tried blasting WD40 down the cable which made no difference.

Disconnect the handbrake cable and manually operate the arm on the calliper. If it still binds then the calliper is the problem. Giving the arm a good
waggle on and off may free it up.
If it doesn't bind then check the cable moves freely. It may be a stray wire catching on the outer casing.

Got it sorted thanks, the spring that's meant to return the handbrake lever looks to be a little weak, I bent it inwards and fitted a metal
sleeve that pushed it inwards a couple of mm which increased its tension and now it's working fine.
