on the mk2 escort design for the roadster should the bottom and top uprights be straight facing up or the top a little off centre

I thought the roadster was sierra based?
are you talking camber or caster?
Would it prudent to add adjustment in to the design?

The top leans back its called castor. There is a cock up in "Ron's" book and the wishbones only give half the needed castor. If you
make them to the book It will be much harder to get through Iva.
Very well documented as not only was the book wrong but other manufactures seemed to get it the same wrong

It been covered on here before, but you need to move the top wishbone bracket back 11mm to give you the required castor

Have a search for camber and self-centering. That should give you weeks of reading on the subject.
Making the brackets wider, so you can adjust the camber via shimming the wish-bone forward/back, would be my choice.
