What is the safe / recommended maximum steering joint angle?
Any UK suppliers of double steering joints?

The answer is in the Woodward catalogue. They recommend 20deg for their single one with a maximum of 32deg. Their double ones can theoretically do
twice that, makes sense I suppose

that explains a lot ( read the spec sheet ! )
I never gave any thought to the joint geometry
variable geared turning , makes sense when you read it and think through the geometry of it all.
would explain a lot of things .
interesting verrrrrrrry interesting . actually this time of year perhaps it should be verily interesting
