Rear Disc Conversion (English Axle)

Hi All

I'm just finishing off the rear disc conversion for my live axle Striker and thought I'd share some photos as it's quite a neat conversion and allows 13" wheels to be used. I've done this before and weighed everything (here

We decided to weld the brackets on this time rather than bolt as it allows the calipers to sit more centrally.

This conversion uses Peugeot, Citroen, Renault rear calipers and Mk3/4 Escort / Fiesta front discs.

I've not sorted out the handbrake cable yet (used Peugeot ones last time) but I've trial fitted an Elise one and it looks like it could work.

The axle is about to have the old brackets removed, cleaned up and painted and I'll refurbish the calipers too.

Regards

Wyn

Do you need to machine the shaft fot those discs?

Just been setting mine up for sierra xr4x4 discs and calipers.

Hi Rob

We machined the discs to clear the 'bump' in the centre of the halfshaft. This makes more sense to me than machining the halfshaft, as it's likely that any change of disc will be planned but if I break a halfshaft on an event and need to borrow one at least a standard one will fit!

Regards

Wyn
