MNR Vortx R1 spring rates

Hi guys,

I have been searching for a few hours but I can’t really find anything so hopefully you guys will be able to help me.

My MNR has been for an initial setup and corner weighting, the suspension setup went well but once we started to corner weight the car we encountered a problem when trying to balance the cross weights. We think the problem is the front springs being to soft.

The best way I can describe the problem is, when the front of the car is pushed down the springs are not strong enough to fully return the car back to a consistent ride height. In other words if I was to lift the car up it would almost stay at that height and not return back down fully and vice versa, if you push down hard on the car will not fully return back up to a consistent height.

My question is, what spring rates to the guys in the RGB use on their race car’s, I’m sure this wouldn’t be a huge problem on a road car but mine spends most of its live on a trailer and at the track

It should return no matter what spring rate. If not then the first thing to do is check nothing is binding on the suspension. I'd suspect poly-bushes are tight on the crush tubes (do MNR use stainless crush tubes?). On axle stands, with the spring/shock removed does the suspension move freely?

Durr, I knew that!

Pivot on the bell-crank between shocker and push-rod?

I always felt the car was slightly too stiff at the front when I had it!

I've been out to the garage and it all moves freely with the shocks removed

Would some preload on the springs help or is that a bad idea?, at the moment there is only a little to remove any play

What's the rebound on the damper like? And are both front corners the same?

They seem ok on the car, I could remove both springs tomorrow and try them side by side on the floor

Mines the same and always been like that, if i jack up the front or the back i always have to bounce it so it sits at the nautral point, But isn't that why when they do corners weights they push them off the scales give it a bounce to reset it

mine came with 175lb on the front i'm now on 125lb, also the rears were 250lb now they are 175lb which makes the car more complient on the road but has given me more understeer!
