Noisy Axle / Wheel

Afternoon!

My car has a SBC Tracsport axle. It's a derivative of the English live-axle with Tran-X plated LSD, alloy nose, Atlas Grp 1 shafts, disc conversion, and internal bearings and seals to keep the oil in the differential area.

It sometimes makes a strange chattering noise when gently accelerating from stand-still. This usually happens when turning right.

It's quiet once up to speed.

I understand that plated axles are notorious for being a bit noisy on slow turns, but this noise sounds like it's coming from the rear right wheel and not the diff.

I've had the wheels and brakes off and everything seems ok. There's no significant play in the right rear wheel when pushed / pulled.

Any suggestions?

Is there any slop in the splines on the driveshafts?

Not that I noticed Mike.

There was a little play on the brake disc when rattled left-to-right, but it was tiny.
