Wheel bearing differences

Hi All,

Just wondered why ABS makes a difference on the wheel bearings. I've got a LSD + shafts off a ABS equipped sierra, but the hub carriers are off a non abs car, so I'm not sure what wheel bearings to buy, or am I up a certain creek without a paddle.

TIA.

Are there different bearings listed for ABS/non ABS?

Dont just build it.....make it!

Toothed rings for the ABS pick up, would be the cause of the difference, cos they fit inside the hub in the bearing set. Get excessive grease in the bearings when you rebuild and the ABS lamp comes on because of grease in the slots.

Enjoy.

Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Yep, and if I remember correct ABS bearing is about double £££s at something like £45! That said they don't normally need changing.

Does anyone know if this is the only difference, as one of the things I've got to do is remove the Toothed ring (won't fit the Indy Uprights)

You can get them on ebay- Bob managed a set for 9quid or something.
Also, someone recently said that Halfords were selling off their stock cheap.

HTH,
James
