Had a fire, need to fix it. English axle half shafts

Cutting a long story short, it appears one of my halfshafts slipped in the bearing which caused the disc to rub on the carrier and a small fire appeared in my wheel arch. Minimal damage done need a new disc, carrier etc.

Obviously I don't want this happiness again obviously so have been looking at the 3J halfshaft group 1 kits.

Does anyone have any experience of these? Thoughts and comments welcome has I will need to have them shortened too as my shafts are 660mm from wheel face to end. Which is shorter than any options available.

I've got a set of 3J English half-shafts but I've not fitted them yet. I'd speak to them directly as they may well be able to make you a custom set.

Thanks. Spoke to 3J they have a set on the shelf at the right size but 510quid is a bit pricey atm for me. Need to decide if I'm going to start the winter works early or get the credit card out

May be worth giving Andy Robinson a ring as he does uprated shafts for the English axle

So its all dismantled. As expected the shaft has moved in the bearing the retaining collar has fallen off.

photo of the mess it made... to be honest I think it was the paint that was burning, but still not something you want next to the fuel tank.

3J shafts on order, the credit car is going to take a battering for this one..
