Sierra Diff Oil Seals
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have pictures of which way around the three oils seals are fitted in a Sierra Standard Diff?

Hi ya,
Thanks for that but that also doesn't show which way around the oil seals go???
I mean is the flat face to be facing out or in??
Is the spring that holds the seals to the shafts inside or outside??

Who removed them?
Pretty sure the driveshaft ones go the normal way seals go,spring inside.
But the the front oil seal where prop attaches to goes in the opposite way around.

Pretty sure they are fitted with the spring innermost to grip the drive shaft...

^^ thats the normal way for any rubber oil seal of this type

No, didn't replace that seal. Hoped it was OK and it was (never leaked).

^^ re-setting up the diff is a bit more involved if you want to do the input oil seal - see the procedure for removing and refitting in the manual

I have the seal out and a new seal ready to go back, easy to do but need to know which way around lol

When I replaced my pinion seal I double checked with the seal supplier and he confirmed "spring inside".

You don't need to reset the diff to change the seal, as that is done with the inner nut.
To do seal you just remove the flange nut and flange

I keep thinking he'll be changing the bearings too for some reason.....
