Bleed nipples
Afternoon all,
I have been out in the garage today to bleed/change the brake fluid on my F27. I think the old fluid was god knows how many years overdue a change.
I have run into a few issues with the bleed nipples. The front drivers side loosens ok, but no fluid is released from the nipple (possibly blocked),
passenger front no issues, and the one nipple on the rear drums is completely rusted. I am able to loosen with grips but this is not ideal.
I think my best option will be to replace the nipples. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to get these? Fronts are M16 calipers, rear
drums I assume are Capri based.
Thanks
Liam

Searching for " Capri bleed nipples " on ebay brings up a few results.
Elderly Ford nipples could be imperial sizes rather than metric.
A thread gauge & vernier would soon tell if metric or imperial.

They'll be a few £££'s dearer, but why not talk to Oliver at Furore Products (furoreproducts@hotmail.com or info@furoreproducts.co.uk) he
does all the metric sizes in Stainless Steel, far less likely to seize in future & no corrosion issues
link to nipples
The Capri ones will only be imperial if the original donor parts are pre' around '85, if they've been replaced there's a good
chance they will have been replaced with the later metric ones, but you do need to check the thread
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

M16 calipers are metric --- M stands for metric --- P16 and P14 calipers are UNF Ford UK started going Metric in 1970 Escorts were the last to
go metric at the MK2 change over in 1976.
If you have seized nipples in the calipers much better to leave well alone just push the fluid back to the master cylinder, suck as much fluid out the
resevoir refill and bleed through any nipple you can open.
Seized nipple on a rear wheel cylinder just replace the wheel cylinder.
Nearly all Capri's had metric brake systems.
To clear out a blocked nipple just get some bod to push and hold the pedal down while you remove it and clean out with some weldiing wire the screw it
back in no air enters the system and no extra bleeding required.
