Wheel spacers
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a pair of 10 or 15mm hub centric wheel spacers for my car. 4x108 so ford fitment and a centre bore of
63.4
Ive got some of these but am not happy about them not being hub centric as its
just the 4 wheel bolts taking the weight of the car etc

Normally available via e bay 15mm are available may struggle with 10mm probably to thin to be hub centric

I've been looking for 10mm hub centric and struggling. Seems it's too thin. Plenty of 20mm on eBay or Amazon etc. If you find some let me
know

If you have spigots in your wheels to make them fit on you hubs you may be able to take them out and get some made but if not I dont think you will
find any . If you do find any they will be like tissue paper at the wheel.

thats what I found - you can get 15mm thick - but even that would leave very little metal - especially since they undercut these in the corner

I made my own 15thk ones (granada 5x112 pattern) in order to take advantage of the chamfer on the wheel etc and gain back some of that metal
on mine the hub spigot sticks out 11mm past the disc (so 4mm left for a 15thk spacer + clearances)
In the end I went with stainless centre parts and anodised alloy spacers
Spacers for rear wheels
(photo's are still acting up )
I've also got a drawing for 1 part 30mm thick ones based on mine.

depends what wheels they are...
my borbet wheels have fairly thick plastic rings snapped into them - when you order the wheels they drill the PDC, but the centre bore is machined to
a standard size and they supply the spigot rings to suit your hubs.
This is fairly common for aftermarket wheels.
if your wheels are like that you could always remove the rings (or get larger ones, say merc at 66.6mm or BMW at 74.1mm) then you got a bit of metal
to play with - but that would need you to get custom spacers made 63.4mm inside to the larger outside... and your wheels would need to be different
front to back (unless you got spacer rings at the front too)
it could be a good way to do it - but its not without some compromise and won't suit everyone

That is what I was trying to say, I made some from ally for my Tiger with TSW wheels and took the rings out of the wheels to give some meat on the
spigot.

Ive got Borbet wheels on the car now and they come with black spigot rings inside the wheel bore as like mcerd1 mentioned in his reply.
Its just the rears i need to space out. I really only need 5mm but if i add them to the hub, it doesnt leave any of the hub flange (not too sure what
its actually called) sticking out to allow the CB of the wheel to sit on. The 5mm spacers dont have then flange on them.
Im not too sure how safe it is to only have the wheel bolts taking the weight/power of the car?

Its normally called a spigot (at least in the UK)
I assume this is an escort axle ?
I don't have one handy to measure, but if you can check a few sizes I could easily make you up a drawing / cad file for a custom spacer
I have a man locally that can make them too (my old lathe is too knackered to do these acutely enough) but thats probably a bit far away from you

Actually none of the weight should be on the spigot or the bolts directly - the wheel is clamped hard to the hub and all the load is transferred by
friction (which is actually very high due the clamping force) - thats why its important to torque your wheel nuts
its similar to how most steel bridges are bolted together using HSFG fastners (high strength friction grip) - most are designed so that all the load
is take by the friction between the parts and no shear load is ever placed on the bolts.
if you go back in time a bit all wheels were centred on the studs/bolts (aka what the US would call 'Lug centric' rather then the modern
'Hub centric' )
The only real issue with this is that its not as accurate and could give some unwanted vibration at the wheels (hence the reason cars changed to hub
centric designs as speeds increased

Those wheels were out about the same time as mine: (so I assume they have similar design of rings etc..)
