zetec sump?
Question?????
Does the sump need cutting ? I understand that a cut and shut sump is about 165mm and will cost a £200-£500 but for that Ill only gain 15mm or so ?Can
I not just put a bulge in the bonnet like the avon? And raise the engine just enough to get the ground clearance needed?
The mondeo sump is about 210mm and the escort is 180mm .I have both...
I would sooner spend the cash on the ignition setup as im told that after welding it will proberly leak anyway????

Trust sump is much cheaper than this.
If you can get away with raising the engine then this is one solution. don't forget that this will also raise the gearbox and prop (and CoG)

Raising the sump is only valid until something else becomes the lowest point of your car. (tyres etc excluded of course )
You will probably find the bellhousing is the next lowest point, you need to assess how much you feel comfortable with removing from that in
conjunction with raising the sump.

and another
must find out how to post multiple pictures !!
anyway I paid £150 for the scholar sump. The gearbox bell housing is about 1.5cm below the level of the sump now. It's well baffled (see first
pic) and does not leak. Just a shame they chose to spray it with black enamel before they sent it back to me ! I thought this was to hide any leaks,
but my garage floor is still clean and I can't see any other evidence of a leak.
Better than paying £400 odd for the raceline custom item (nice though it is).

Of course the sumps have a pan like old tin Anglias escorts etc. however I fitted mine in a genuine series 4 LOTUS 7 which has a chassis rail running
under the rear of the sump hence the need for a front pan on the sump, but dave would also make you one to YOUR spec which is the important point.
