Brake adjuster.
On the live axle escort brake the bar that goes through the back plate that the cable clips onto. is that supposed to pivot?
I wanna get my brakes assembled up ready to get rid of a box in me shed.
I know obviously the adjuster does..

Yes it pivots....
and acts on one shoe to push it into contact with the drum. As this shoe touches the drum the reaction force pushes the other shoe in the opposite
direction and into contact with the drum
