sierra rear caliper reconditioning

I have a pair of sierra rear calipers and a pair of rear caliper reconditioning kits but no instructions. (my sierra haynes manual is for an 82 - 87 model). How do I take them apart (an put them back together?

Hi Mate,
You're best bet is to just replace the piston seals and the "slide bolt gaiter" things as the calipers looked in pretty good nick before they were painted.
The piston unscrews with aid from a pair of circlip pliers in the notches on each piston.
You may need to get a new pair of slide bolts or clean them up with some emery paper or the like.
Hope that helps somewhat,
Pat...
